Ever get the feeling Eurovision is getting a bit overstaffed? The 2018 contest had four presenters - Silvia Alberto, Daniela Ruah, Catarina Furtado and Filomena Cautela. The latter presented mainly from the green room. The venue was the Altice Arena in Lisbon.
The 2018 slogan was 'All Aboard!', reflecting Portugal's heritage as a maritime nation. Similarly, the set design, which did not use LED screens for the first time since 2010, was inspired by the hull of a ship.
The postcards showed the contestants emerging from a 'magic' door into various locations in Portugal, where they would undertake some activity. The UK's SuRie was seen collecting tea from a plantation on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores.
Mel Giedroyc announced the UK's 12 point score. Yet another co-host joined Scott Mills for semi-final commentary duties on BBC4, this time television personality Rylan Clark-Neal.
