Idents

E4

E4 ('Channel 4 without the boring bits') was launched on 18th January 2001, and is an entertainment channel aimed at a young adult audience. Originally available only to pay television subscribers, the channel was added to Freeview in May 2005.

E4 has always had a cheeky, irreverent style, and this has been reflected in its presentation over the years. For example, between 2004 and 2007 E4 employed its very own kitsch band, who could be seen playing in all sorts of odd locations. The 2018 rebrand saw E4 launch a wide range of lengthy, elaborate idents, most of which are animated.

E4's programming, however, perhaps fails to live up to the promise of its presentation style - the channel commissions only a small quantity of original material, with most of its airtime taken up with US sitcoms and repeats from its parent channel.

Our favourite here has to be the cheeky chip shop callback to the original Channel 4 symbol of 1982!
