To the uninitiated, it might appear that Drama is a rebranding of the former UKTV Drama, but this is not the case - this was in fact relaunched in 2008 as the crime channel Alibi. (Our timeline should help make the many changes to the UKTV network over the years a little clearer).
The present incarnation of Drama launched as a brand new channel in July 2013, and was made available to Freeview viewers from the start. Despite the name, the channel also regularly shows classic comedy programmes.

A fourth, war-themed, ident has restricted usage due to current world events, but can be seen at this link. For the time being, at least, the original idents continue in use to supplement the new set.
